Cnky Siwela Flute Institute

Founded in 2013, the Cnky Siwela Flute Institute (CSFI) serves as a multi-functional entity in the South African arts scene. It operates as a music training institute, a public relations (PR) company, an events coordinating organization, and a home to the CSFI Orchestra—a Neo-Soul ensemble.

CSFI’s core mission is to provide access to high-quality music education for youth and young adults, especially those in underserved communities. The organization’s goal is to nurture and foster musical talent, empower local artists, and promote cultural engagement through music. The Institute has helped shape the careers of many young South African musicians and has become a vital part of the local music ecosystem.

As Cnky Siwela continues to push the boundaries of musical expression, his legacy grows through the CSFI and its impact on the South African music industry. With a focus on innovation, inclusivity, and community development, Siwela and his Institute are poised to leave an indelible mark on the cultural landscape for years to come.

CSFI Inside Art Community

Community Engagement & Vision

At its heart, CSFI is about more than just music. It is a movement that seeks to enrich communities through cultural exchange, creativity, and education. Cnky Siwela’s vision is to break down the barriers that limit access to arts education and to inspire a new generation of musicians to express themselves freely.
Through various initiatives, such as workshops, masterclasses, and performances, CSFI has been instrumental in bridging the gap between professional musicians and young aspiring artists. The Institute’s projects have fostered a spirit of collaboration, empowering local talent while creating a platform for global exposure.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

C'nky Siwela

Cnky Siwela is a dynamic and multi-talented flutist, singer, and music educator from South Africa, known for his innovative approach to music and unwavering dedication to community upliftment through the arts.

He is the founder of the Cnky Siwela Flute Institute (CSFI), a non-profit organization established in 2013 with a mission to provide music education and opportunities to underserved communities in South Africa. Cnky's work spans across various genres, combining his classical flute training with contemporary sounds, particularly within the Neo-Soul and Jazz landscapes.

His passion for music began at a young age, and after receiving extensive formal training, he committed himself not only to developing his personal artistry but also to creating platforms for young musicians to thrive. Over the years, Cnky has grown to be recognized for his role as both an artist and an advocate for arts education and community development.

Musical Innovation: The Experimental & Upcoming Album

In 2023, CSFI made its mark on the global stage with the release of its first Extended Play (EP) titled “The Experimental.” The EP reflects the Institute’s vision of blending various genres, including Neo-Soul, Jazz, and African rhythms, while showcasing the unique sound
of the CSFI Orchestra.

Building on the success of “The Experimental,” CSFI is set to record its first full-length album on December 8, 2024, live at Sebothoma Hall during the Inside Art Sunday Soul
Fest.

This album will be a culmination of the Institute’s decade-long journey, capturing the rich diversity of South African music and the innovative spirit of its young talents.

INSIDE ART

Inside Art Workshop: A Resounding Success

The first-ever Inside Art Workshop, hosted by the Cnky Siwela Flute Institute, was a groundbreaking event held at Sebothoma Hall in Hammanskraal. The workshop brought together music industry experts and local artists for an insightful exchange of knowledge and expertise. Attendees benefited from valuable sessions on music rights, legal aspects, and career development.

Notably, members from the prestigious Moshito Music Conference joined our panelists and were highly impressed by the professionalism and engagement of the attendees. As a result, they have proposed future collaborations, including inviting Hammanskraal artists to attend the 2024 Moshito Music Conference.

This event marks the beginning of what will become an annual masterclass, designed to empower and uplift local artists with industry knowledge and networking opportunities.
